Inter-agency Task Force Yolanda chair, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, who in Iloilo yesterday, affirmed the national government’s Yolanda housing projects will be “100 percent complete” by next year. He noted, in Panay, as of September 30, around 63 percent of all projects were completed but added, if ongoing construction is included, the projects across the island are at 93.5 percent completion.
“We are 93. 5 percent complete and ongoing,” the cabinet official insisted. “We [are] really on track to complete this whole thing by year 2020.”
He pointed out, 30,704 housing units are already occupied.
Nograles was in the province to lead a memorandum of agreement and deed of donation signing in order to turnover permanent Yolanda housing projects in Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, and Antique.
The cabinet official said, following discussions with the National Housing Authority, they are aiming at a 65 percent completion by the end of the year.
He said, with 35 percent left to be completed, “That is why we are confident to say, by 2020, 100 percent completion.”/WDJ
