An abducted construction worker was found dead yesterday morning in a sugarcane field in Victorias City’s Barangay 13.
Police identified the fatality as 19-year-old Roger Hellacone Blanco, a resident of Barangay Sto. Niño in EB Magalona.
EB Magalona municipal police chief, Police Captain Wilfredo Benoman, Jr., said Blanco’s abduction took place on Monday, when he was reportedly dragged by three mask-wearing men out of an internet shop. The victim was then loaded into a waiting pickup truck, which sped away in an unknown direction.
After receiving information regarding the abduction, Benoman immediately dispatched personnel to conduct a follow-up operation to track down Blanco’s whereabouts.
However, around 10:00 a.m. yesterday, the remains were found with a gunshot wound to the head.
According to Blanco’s sister, who has requested anonymity, she claimed her brother had been drug user since he was 17 years old.
Prior to the victim’s death, he told his sister that he was being blamed for a missing cement mixer, which was said to be stolen from a relocation site. The family believes it may be the reason why he was killed.
The sister, meanwhile, denied her brother was responsible for robbery and claimed to know the real suspects in the burglary.
Police are presently investigating the incident./DGB, WDJ
