A 38-year-old resident of Kabankalan City was killed over the weekend after the vehicle he was driving was ambushed.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office director, Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, identified the victim as John Paul Sola, a resident of the city’s Barangay Talubangi.
Baleros said, based on investigations carried out by the Kabankalan City Police Station, Sola was crossing a bridge when he was gunned down by four unidentified gunmen.
The gunmen immediately fled toward an unknown direction following the shooting while Sola was rushed to the city’s district hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by hospital staff.
Police recovered several empty .45 caliber shells from the crime scene.
Baleros believes the incident was planned and has ordered the city’s police force to look into a motive behind the ambush./DGB, WDJ
