By Adrian Stewart Co

The Philippine men’s national football team, the Azkals, will be looking to avenge their earlier 5-2 loss to Syria when the two sides meet tonight in the ongoing second round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification rounds at the Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium in Dubai, UAE.
Syria currently leads Group A with an unblemished 4-0 record; while the Philippines scored wins over Guam and the Maldives, along with playing to a scoreless draw with China.
The winners of each group advances to the third qualifying round, while the best four runners-up will also move into the next round. The Philippines is currently tied for second with China on seven points; however, the Chinese side carries a superior goal differential, tallying 11 to the Philippines’ one./ASC, WDJ
