An earthquake with a magnitude of 1.8 was recorded in Sipalay City on Thursday around 3:22 a.m.
Based on a Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology report, the quake depth was 32 kilometers with an epicenter near the city.
Zeaphard Caelian, head of the Provincial Disaster Management Team Division, said the quake is a “usual occurrence in this area because of the Negros trench.”
“We are just to be reminded of our preparedness and earthquake drills, and to seriously be proactive in our preparedness,” Caelian said./DGB, WDJ
