Iloilo City is set to kick off the Christmas season with a lighting ceremony this weekend, November 16, at City Hall beginning at 6:00 p.m. The city is expected to be lit up with over 1,500 Christmas lanterns, or parols.
The parols were created by 100 inmates of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in the Jaro district’s Barangay Ungka.
According to a release from the city government, “This will translate to a brighter Christmas for them and their families as the project has provided them a good source of livelihood.”/WDJ
