Ceres-Negros FC will be taking on defending cup champions Kaya FC-Iloilo this weekend, November 16, in the 2019 Copa Paulino Alcántara finals at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.
Despite acknowledging the Bacolod City-based side will be without midfielders Mike Ott and Stephan Schröck, defenders Sean Kane and Carli de Murga, and striker OJ Porteria due to scheduled 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification round matches, Kaya FC head coach Noel Marcaida said they are still anticipating a competitive match.
“No matter who will be filled-in by Ceres-Negros, the mindset will still be the same,” the coach explained. “It is playing against Ceres-Negros, not playing against an individual player.”
“Even if they [will] not have their mainstays on Saturday, there are still Ceres-Negros players that are playing in the finals,” he added. “Those who will be playing for them also have something to prove so we expect a challenging match.”
