Negrense players Robby Celiz and Jeramer Cabanag led the GenSan Warriors to an 87-68 win over the Bacolod Master Sardines last Tuesday in the ongoing Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup at the Marikina Sports Center.
Celiz, originally from Cadiz City, top-scored for GenSan with 15 points; while Bacolod City’s Cabanag chipped in 14; John Murphy Raymundo contributed 13 points and eight assists; and Al Castro added 11 markers.
Bacolod surged to an early 24-20 lead after the first 10 minutes but the Warriors turned things around in the second quarter, where they outscored the opposition, 20-9.
The Master Sardines tried to keep pace in the second half but GenSan eventually extended their lead to as much as 20 points.
Despite the loss, Nico Paolo Javelona tallied 21 points for Bacolod, while Benedicg Adamos added 13, and Jerrick Cañada and Mikee Reyes each scored 10./ASC, WDJ
