Makati FC triumphed in the U14 division of the SingaCup, an international youth football tournament, with a 1-0 win over FOSSBI of Indonesia last week at the Cage Sports Park in Singapore.
“Makati FC aims to identify talent from every province in the Philippines and give the opportunity to develop their game,” said Makati FC chief executive officer SeLu Lozano. “Football and sports in general [are] such a powerful tool to alleviate poverty and give these kids access to countless opportunities.”
The club also bagged individual honors with Jian Vinz Caraig being named MVP; while Aarom Yekti, who produced the championship-winning strike for Makati FC, was the boys’ U14 division’s top scorer with 18 goals.
Meanwhile, Makati FC 2006, a team comprised of players one year younger than the U14 champions, took third place in the division after their 3-1 win over Kaya FC Academy in the consolation match./ASC, WDJ
