After the House of Representatives earlier approved a bill postponing the 2020 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections, Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer backed the move saying it will give officials more time to “serve their constituents.”
Earlier this week, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the postponement should serve as an “inspiration” for incumbent officials to serve longer.
The bill reschedules the the upcoming polls from May 2020 to December 5, 2020; it also mandated the next election to be held on the first Monday of December 2025 and every three years thereafter./DGB, WDJ
