Dumaguete City shooting guard to be formally named NCAA MVP today

After San Beda University shooting guard Calvin Oftana was earlier announced as MVP for the 95th NCAA men’s basketball season, the Dumaguete City native is set to be formally recognized today.
Oftana earned the title after averaging 15.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 18 games this season.
Meanwhile, fellow San Beda players Evan Nelle and James Canlas took second and third place, respectively, in the MVP race.
It was earlier reported, San Beda was also recognized for Best Foreign Player with center Donald Tankoua taking the title while Justin Arana of Arellano University won Rookie of the Year./ASC, WDJ
