The Alaska Aces scored a narrow 105-102 victory over the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup last Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The loss eliminated Phoenix from playoff contention.
Leading 103-90 following a basket from Vic Manuel, the Aces were stunned by a 9-0 blast by the Fuel Masters, capped off by a triple by Matthew Wright, which saw their lead cut to 103-102. Jvee Casio then sank two free throws to increase Alaska’s lead to 105-102 with nine seconds left to play before forcing Phoenix to miss their final attempt.
Manuel finished with 20 points for Alaska, while Jeron Teng added 17, Franko House completed a double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds, Maverick Ahanmisi scored 12 points, and Kevin Racal added 11./ASC, WDJ
