Six Sipalay City barangays will soon be under validation by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to ensure all local residents involved with drug use underwent a community-based rehabilitation program.
“The city government of Sipalay saw that there is a need to thoroughly educate our barangay counterparts of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC),” said Mayor Maria Gina Lizares.
Meanwhile, after 115 local government employees were subject to random drug testing, all the tests came out negative.
“This clean random drug testing result proves the efforts of the local government [are] paying off,” the mayor said. “We are planning on making this random check-up more frequent as we aim to set an example to the locals.”
Currently, the Sipalay CADAC is implementing a community-based rehabilitation program for individuals from the six barangays in question. The council plans to conduct a second installment next year./DGB, WDJ
