Police believe the incident was sparked by drugs
At least one person was killed, while his live-in partner was wounded, after they were allegedly shot by riding-in-tandem suspects last Monday night at Purok Cagaycay in Bacolod City’s Barangay 2.
Police identified the fatality as 50-year-old Roberto Salvador and the wounded was 30-year-old Norma Tipon, both residents of the city’s Barangay 3.
Police Station 2 (PS2) commander, Police Major Sherlock Gabana, said, based on eyewitness accounts, the two unidentified suspects approached the victims and opened fire.
According to authorities, the shooting may be connected to illegal drug activities as Salvador is on the station’s drug list.
The station commander pointed out, the late victim carried multiple aliases and had reportedly scammed other drug personalities in the area.
Salvador also previously survived an earlier attack two months ago, when another individual attempted to slash him.
Meanwhile, Tipon is now stable and recovering at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds to the hands and legs.
Gabana added, they are now investigating the incident and said it should serve as an example to the local community to stop engaging in illegal drug activities./DGB, WDJ
