The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in coordination with the office of Negros Occidental third district Rep. Francisco Benitez, recently launched the digitaljobsPH technical training, a program intended to create information and communication technology jobs in far-flung areas, in Talisay City.
Twenty trainees from across the city will undergo a six-day training and 21-day online campaign. Yesterday, participants began their virtual assistance module with December 12 scheduled for their assessment period and graduation set for the following day.
DICT provincial officer, Engr. Romeo Tome, said the project in the Talisay City is the first one conducted in partnership between the department, local government unit, and a congressional district office. Within the province, however, such trainings have been implemented in San Carlos City, Kabankalan City, Cadiz City, and Escalante City.
Shayne Mae Fenis, who serves as lead trainer for the module, said the program will boost technical skills, along with ensuring hireability, promoting local businesses, and increasing economic opportunities./WDJ
