The Guimaras provincial government and Philippine Coast Guard-Western Visayas District signed a deed of usufruct yesterday at the Governor’s Conference Room for the construction of a K-9 training facility, hospital, and breeding center. A usufruct agreement permits an outside party to use a piece of property for a period of time.
The deed paves the way for the facility to be built on a 20,000-square meter piece of land owned by the provincial government in San Lorenzo’s Barangay Sapal.
“The project may commence 2021,” said Coast Guard District Commander Allan Victor Dela Vega,
The Coast Guard considers Guimaras an ideal location for the project, calling it “vital for ensuring safe and orderly maritime security.”
Trained canines from the facility will be deployed to different Coast Guard stations across the country./WDJ
