Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) won the 14th Provincial Wildlife Quiz Bowl, which took place over the weekend at the Talisay City campus of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College. The winning team was comprised of Brynx Junil Alegarbes and Brent Joshua De Castro.
Meanwhile, Acel John D. Cayot and Neil Nadrei S. Aral of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod came in second place; and Hinigaran National High School’s Ken Patrick C. Bucayan and Ara Angel A. Camino came in third.
All three teams will represent Negros Occidental at the upcoming 5th National Wildlife Quiz Bowl, which will take place from November 27 to 29 in Davao City.
“[The Provincial Wildlife Quiz Bowl] is our way of educating our secondary students,” explained Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) Information Officer Olive Seruelo. “[The] main objective is to heighten their awareness on wildlife protection conservation because, the more we know about wildlife, the more we appreciate our life because of our connection to the environment.”
Fifty teams competed in the easy and moderate round with 36 advancing to the difficult round. (PR)
