“…Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will…” –Romans 12:2
If President Rodrigo Duterte was unable to stop the proliferation of illegal drugs in his first three years in office with a deadly and harsh campaign, it is evident Vice President Leni Robredo will not be able to solve the problem in the six months extended to her by the president. Duterte’s failure only means one thing—the president’s methods have been proven useless and a new approach must be crafted.
One must pay attention to the truth that illegal drugs continue to proliferate because of the high financial rewards they reap. The nefarious trade gives rise to handsome monetary benefits because there are so many Filipinos addicted—I have been told, the annual take is in the trillions of pesos (give or take a few billions).
Any plan against illegal drugs must address stopping people from using drugs—if there are not users, nobody will be buying. With no users, there is no business.
What must be done to drive people away from drugs? Reshape the thought patterns of Filipinos—especially the youth—and guide them back to God. God’s love is so great that He came down to earth, in the form of flesh and blood, and accepted penalties for sins committed by man. The public must be inspired by that truth and fill their minds with the power of God as a response to daily needs. One’s consciousness must always be reminded that God is ready to give in to the petitions, prayers, and requests of those who faithfully listen to Him and obey His commands.
The populace should strive to return to the Bible by sincerely obeying the commands written in its verses; that and nothing else is the magic formula to pull users away from dangerous and sinful acts.
While there is still time, this course of action must be taken.
