According to a report recently put out by the Philippine Statistics Authority, around 20 percent of young people, specifically between the ages of 15 and 24, are neither working nor pursuing an education.
The agency notes, the total population of the age group is just under 20 million.
However, the same report found around 46.8 percent are not working but enrolled in school; while five percent are both working and pursuing an education.
In addition, the study also found women outnumber men in terms of those out of work.
When broken down by region, Region VI and VII each comprise 7.3 percent of the total youth population out of work and not pursuing education, which is the fourth highest figure nationwide./WDJ
