According to data from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), a 2.8-magnitude earthquake was recorded just north of Dauin earlier Friday morning around 12:36 a.m.
A subsequent Phivolcs bulletin reported no damages in the Negros Oriental municipality as a result of the quake nor were they any anticipated aftershocks.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected.
Last month, a 4.5-magnitude tremor was recorded near Hinoba-an and an Intensity III, where few people feel the tremor, particularly those on the upper floors of buildings, was felt in Negros Oriental, in Basay and Bayawan City./WDJ
