Ceres-Negros FC and Kaya FC-Iloilo will both be vying for a spot in the finals of the 2019 Copa Paulino Alcántara. If both are successful in their respective matches this Sunday, it would set up a ‘Visayas Clásico’ final. Defending cup champions Kaya FC open the semifinals when they meet Mendiola FC at 4:00 p.m., while three-time Philippines Football League (PFL) champions Ceres FC faces Stallion Laguina FC at 7:00 p.m.
In their four meetings in this year’s PFL, the Bacolod City-based side managed to score both a 5-0 and 2-0 win; however, they also played to two draws with the club from Biñan City. Notably, Stallion Laguna was the only club Ceres dropped points against this season.
For Kaya FC and Mendiola, the Iloilo City-based side scored convincing wins in three of their four PFL meetings. One match, however, ended with a 0-0 draw.
The winners will meet in a title match next weekend, November 16./ASC, WDJ
