Magnolia beats Phoenix in the Governors’ Cup

The Magnolia Hotshots scored a 97-81 victory over the Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup last Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
Romeo Travis nearly finished with a triple-double for Magnolia with 20 points, 16 rebounds, and eight assists; while Ian Sangalang added 17 points; Paul Lee – 15; and Chris Banchero – 10.
The Hotshots set the tone early with baskets from Travis, Jiovani Jalalon, and Andy Mark Barroca for a 28-12 edge but the Fuel Masters came up with a late rally in the second half to narrow their deficit to 41-31 at the half.
Into the third quarter, the Fuel Masters started strong and further trimmed the gap to 47-45 but the Hotshots were quick to pull ahead anew with buckets from Sangalang and Lee giving them a 69-60 lead.
Phoenix continued to battle in the fourth quarter and found themselves down 79-73 before Magnolia went on a final run behind Travis, Banchero, and Lee for a 92-77 lead./ASC, WDJ
