The Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) approved P2.7 million in financial assistance for nine Mindanao localities affected by the recent earthquakes.
The city plants to provide P300,000 each to Kidapawan City, Makilala, Tulunan, M’lang, Digos City, Bansalan, Matanao, Magsaysay, and Kiblawan.
City Hall is also gathering donations of food packs and non-food items such as jerrycans, blankets, hygiene kits, and tents to be transported by the Philippine Coast Guard.
Earlier, the Negros Occidental provincial government also pledged aid with Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office head, Dr. Zeaphard Caelian, saying the amount will be determined by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
In addition, Capiz Governor Esteban Evan B. Contreras vowed to donate P100,000, or one month’s salary, to the relief effort; while Tapaz Mayor Roberto Palomar also said he would be sending P200,000 to Armando Quibod, mayor of Makilala, North Cotabato./WDJ
