The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) recently announced, effective November 1, in accordance with RA 11314, or the Student Fare Discount Act, current students are eligible for a 20 percent discount on domestic flights.
The policy was signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte earlier this year.
According to CAB, students currently enrolled in elementary or secondary school, vocational-technical program, or at an institute of higher education are eligible for the discount. However, those enrolled in post-graduate coursework or “informal short-term courses” are not eligible.
Earlier, Cebu Pacific Air Vice President for Corporate Affair JR Mantarin told the Philippine News Agency, “We support the student discount for air travel.”
In order to take advantage of the discount, while purchasing tickets from a carrier’s ticketing office, students must present a school identification card; a validated enrollment form; and either a birth certificate, baptismal certificate, recent school records, naturalization certificate, or passport./WDJ
