A man was found dead late Tuesday afternoon after he was reportedly shot by unidentified assailants inside a car at Purok Tumpok in Talisay City’s Barangay Zone 15.
Police identified the fatality as Jethro Baldecasa, a resident of Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City.
Based on information provided by the Talisay City Police Station, Baldecasa sustained a total of six gun shot wounds. Four of the wounds were located in his back with exit wounds found on the chest, while the other two were located in his left and right hands.
The vehicle, a red sedan, is owned by Corazon Macalde and Divine Grace Fernandez, who run a rental car business.
When authorities looking into the vehicle’s background, they discovered the car was rented last October 31 by unidentified individuals. They also found the vehicle was carrying three passengers prior to the incident.
Police are also investigating if the vehicle is linked to a report received around 8:00 a.m. last Tuesday, when a concerned citizen from the city’s Barangay Zone 9 claimed to have seen a red car being chased and shot at by individuals aboard a van.
Meanwhile, in an interview with RMN DYHB-Bacolod, the victim’s family, who have requested anonymity, claimed Baldecasa was the “black sheep” of their family as he was engaged with illegal drug activities.
The victim’s aunt claimed Baldecasa’s siblings are all successful professionals but he remained jobless despite graduating from a maritime school.
She added, the family believes the incident is connected to illegal drug activities./DGB, WDJ
