Meralco thrashes Ginebra in the Governors’ Cup

The Meralco Bolts cruised to a 101-77 win over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup over the weekend at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Allen Durham flirted with triple-double for Meralco with 39 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists; while Kier John Quinto scored 13 points; Chris Newsome – 11; and Raymond Almazan – 10.
The Bolts took control from the opening period with a 26-15 start on hits from Durham. Their lead later increased to 53-32 at the half off shots from Quinto and Newsome.
Meralco eventually built their largest lead of 60-32 early in the third following a triple by Newsome.
Barangay Ginebra tries their best to get back in the match but the Bolts continued to deliver responses and maintained a 77-53 lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, Barangay Ginebra made their final push and got to within 18 points. Meralco then went for the kill with triples from Ilonggo guard Anjo Caram and Quinto, along with free throws by Almazan./ASC, WDJ
