For the first time in Himamaylan City history, a sitting mayor delivered a “State of the City Address” following their first 100 days in office. Mayor Rogelio Raymund Tongson, who promised a fast, efficient, and transparent administration, offered up some transparency with his statement—it is what the people need.
According to the mayor, city residents are “hungry” for change.
In his report, he listed the changes implemented since assuming office including efficient tax collection, a business-friendly environment, increased donations to non-governmental organizations and civic groups, and converting the city’s open dumpsite into a sanitary landfill.
One of the problems the city faces pertains to water and the mayor has welcomed PrimeWater Infrastructure Corporation, which has expressed an interest in providing the needed infrastructure to benefit local consumers.
Tongson said the interests of his constituents are his “paramount considerations” and whoever can satisfy their needs he will pursue them.
He also discussed ongoing and future infrastructure projects—all done through public-private partnerships—which he said are beneficial to the city.
From the moment he took office to today, city logistics has upped from 15 percent operations to 80 percent.
The city has since purchased vehicles for various local departments and are currently looking to procure jet skis for the local Bantay Dagat affiliate.
Local farmers are always awaiting the coffee and muscovado processing plant.
Expect more developments./WDJ
