Police: Local holiday observances
were ‘generally peaceful’
Both the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) and Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) affirmed the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day observances were “generally peaceful.”
BCPO spokesperson, Police Lt. Colonel Ariel Pico, said they only recorded one traffic accident and five anti-drug operations during the holiday.
The city police official also said they noticed there weren’t too many people heading to city cemeteries, which enabled them to withdraw some of their personnel and return them to beat patrols.
Meanwhile, NOPPO spokesperson, Police Major Edison Garcia, said they did not record any crimes committed inside cemetery premises.
The police official pointed out, heightened security by police in places of convergence served as a deterrence.
He also noted one major accident in Bago City last week, where three people were killed and many more were injured./DGB, WDJ
