Davao del Norte native Jerwin Ancajas will be fighting to defend his International Boxing Federation world super flyweight belt next month, December 8, in Mexico as an undercard bout for a fight featuring world super-bantamweight champion Emmanuel Navarrete.
He was originally supposed to face Mexican fighter Jonathan Javier Rodriguez last Sunday in California; however, according to Top Rank Promotions, the latter was unable to travel to the US due to visa issues, which resulted in him failing to complete his medical requirement.
“Nakakalungkot lang na hindi matutuloy ‘yung laban ko dahil matindi na ‘yung naging preparation ko (It’s sad the fight did not process because I have putting a lot into my preparations),” Ancajas said. “Things happen for a reason.”
The Filipino fighter currently holds a 31-1-2 win-loss-draw ring record, including 21 KO wins./ASC, WDJ
