The Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) secondary boys’ basketball semifinal between Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias (CSAV) and STI-West Negros University (STI-WNU) descended into a brawl over the weekend at the STI-WNU gym in Bacolod City.
CSAV were leading the defending champions, 81-62, with just over a minute left when the game was halted after two players were entangled in positioning. The incident then sparked a free-for-all as players, coaching staff, parents, and supporters of both sides invaded the court and traded punches.
As of press time, NOPSSCEA has yet to release its decision on the incident.
Meanwhile, Bacolod Tay Tung High School claimed the other championship title after beating the University of St. La Salle, 82-67./ASC, WDJ
