Guimaras tourism campaign launched

Following the tragic events last August that left 31 people dead after their boats capsized while traveling between Guimaras and Iloilo, the Department of Tourism-Region VI (DOT-6) recently launched a tourism campaign for Guimaras. The Oplan #LoveGuimaras Assistance Package formally launched last week at the City Mall Passenger Terminal Building at the Parola Wharf in Iloilo City.
“It is a promotional and assistance package that will earn for the Province of Guimaras tourism community P425,817,000,” DOT-6 director, Atty. Helen J. Catalbas, explained.
DOT-6 projects a of total 126,000 foreign and domestic tourists will visit the island-province within one year of the launching.
It was earlier announced, the first Guimaras Umbrella Festival will launch this weekend, November 9, wherein DOT-6 will distribute 1,000 umbrellas for motorbanca passengers.
“The colorful umbrellas symbolize the return of the lively, vibrant, and robust tourism industry,” Catalbas noted./WDJ
