Multiple fires were recorded over the long weekend in Bacolod City.
The initial incident took place Saturday afternoon when a two-story house owned by Rizalino Fernandez was heavily damaged.
Based on information obtained by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the house was being used as a boarding house on the first floor, while the second floor served as a storage facility.
Both the owner of the home and the boarders were not around when the fire occurred.
Arson investigators reported the blaze started in one of the ground floor rooms.
Firefighters managed to douse the blaze by around 1:30 p.m. with initial damages estimated at between P500,000 to P1 million.
Meanwhile, a second fire took place early yesterday morning at a compound located along CL Montelibano Drive in the city’s Barangay Villamonte.
The BFP reported the said compound was owned by Edgardo and Merlina Rubi.
The fire was also doused within minutes by firefighters.
As of press time, the BFP has yet to determine what caused the blaze as well as the cost of damages./DGB, WDJ
