The Alaska Aces surged to their second straight win in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup following a 106-99 victory over NorthPort Batang Pier last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Franko House and Vic Manuel led the victory with 23 markers apiece, while Abu Tratter and Jeron Teng contributed 17 and 12 markers, respectively.
Trailing for most of the opening period, the Aces got its offense going midway in the second and broke away from a 38-all score behind House, Manuel, and Tratter for a 53-48 halftime edge.
In the third quarter, Alaska went on a run behind Tratter as their lead reached 63-50. However, Batang Pier responded with a rally and got to within 83-76 before Alaska increased their edge back to 99-92 with over a minute to go.
While NorthPort went on to trim their deficit to 101-97 with under a minute to go, free throw conversions by Tratter and Manuel iced the victory for Alaska./ASC, WDJ
