Portions of Negros and Panay experienced a series of power outages and fluctuations late Tuesday afternoon. According to information provided by the Central Negros Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Ceneco), the entire coverage area, consisting of Bacolod City, Talisay City, Silay City, Bago City, Murcia, and Don Salvador Benedicto, began encountering fluctuations around 5:00 p.m.
Ceneco pointed to a “power transmission problem” linked to the shutdown of three Iloilo power plants.
Meanwhile, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said they monitored a grid disturbance affecting distribution utilities and other electricity cooperatives in Panay and Negros.
They said transmission services normalized around 9:00 p.m.
However, information gathered by Watchmen Daily Journal from reliable sources in Iloilo reported a complete power outage lasting for several hours.
In addition, NGCP also revealed the 138kV Negros-Panay submarine cable was tripped around 8:02 a.m. yesterday but reported power was fully restored by 10:11 a.m.
Portions of Bacolod City were also without power yesterday between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m./DGB, WDJ
