Negrense boxer fights in WBC eliminator next month

Cauayan-based boxer Jay-r Raquinel is set to fight Pakistani fighter Muhammad Waseem on November 22 in a World Boxing Council (WBC) world flyweight title eliminator in Dubai, UAE. The winner will have the opportunity to challenge WBC world flyweight champion Charlie Edwards of the United Kingdom.
Earlier this year, Raquinel retained his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation flyweight title after knocking out Japanese fighter Takuya Kogawa at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
For Waseem, he is coming off recent wins over Filipino boxers Jether Oliva, Giemel Magramo, and Conrado Tanamor.
The Pakistani fighter also nearly won his first world championship bout last year against South African boxer Moruti Mthalane.
The Negrense fighter enters the match with an 11-1-1 win-loss-draw record, including eight stoppage wins; while his opponent carries a 9-1-0 slate, including seven knockout victories./ASC, WDJ
