The Creamline Cool Smashers and PetroGazz Angels recently advanced to the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference finals. Creamline scored a 25-18, 25-15, 25-8 sweep over the Motolite Power Builders in their semifinal; while PetroGazz delivered a 28-26, 25-17, 25-17 win over the BanKo Perlas Spikers.
Alyssa Valdez spearheaded the offense for Creamline with 15 points off 10 attacks, three service aces, and two blocks; while Michelle Gumabao and Celine Domingo each added 12 markers; Jessica Galanza contributed eight points, 11 digs, and eight excellent receptions; Julia Morado offered up 21 excellent sets; and Kyla Atienza delivered 19 digs and 12 excellent receptions.
“We really banked on our experience as a team for months—for years,” Morado said. “We’re really happy na naitawid namin ang semifinals but we know na marami pa kaming kailangan sa training this week (We’re happy to have advanced past the semifinals but we know we have more training this week).”
In the other semifinal, Jovielyn Prado hammered down 11 attacks, 13 points, 14 excellent receptions, and 11 digs for PetroGazz; while Stephanie Mercado scored 11 points; and Jonah Sabete added 10.
The finals are scheduled to begin next Wednesday, November 6./ASC, WDJ
