The Burgos Public Cemetery in Bacolod City has begun preparations for the visitors expected to flock the cemetery in observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Ricardo Repohiyo, lead caretaker for the Burgos Public Cemetery, said, as part of their preparations, he commanded other caretakers to begin cleaning and to install needed lighting fixtures.
The City Legal Office also arrived yesterday to conduct inspections.
As of yesterday morning, the city government division requested Repohiyo and vendors set up inside the cemetery to move and relocate outside.
Meanwhile, the cemetery caretaker urged those visiting the cemetery to avoid bringing illegal contraband such as deadly weapons, alcoholic drinks, and flammable materials.
The public was also advised to avoid bringing speakers or videoke sets inside the cemetery.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, the Bacolod City Market Coordinating and Monitoring Task Force requested the Sangguniang Panlungsod to pass a resolution allowing flower vendors to sell flowers along some public roads during the upcoming observance.
Executive Assistant Ernesto Pineda, who heads the task force, said flower vendors have been selling their wares across the city for several years, including areas such as the Bacolod Public Plaza, along the Burgos Street, and in front of the Bacolod City Public Cemetery./DGB, WDJ
