The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded several minor earthquakes across Negros over the weekend.
On Saturday, Negros Oriental was struck by two instances of seismic activity with a 2.3-magnitude quake striking south of Manjuyod at 6:50 p.m. and, nearly 20 minutes later, a 2.4-magnitude tremor shook Bais City. Additionally, about 25 minutes later, a 2.0-magntiude earthquake was recorded near Candoni, Negros Occidental.
Last month, a 2.5-magnitude tremor also struck the Negros Oriental town.
Meanwhile, early yesterday morning, around 3:45 a.m., a 1.7-magntude quake was recorded just north of Cauayan, Negros Occidental.
Subsequent Phivolcs bulletins said no damages were reported as a result of the tremors nor were there any anticipated aftershocks.
Quakes ranging between 1.0 and 3.0 in magnitude are often classified as a Level 1 on the Mercalli Intensity Scale, where the tremor goes almost undetected./WDJ
