A married couple was killed over the weekend after a pickup truck struck their motorcycle and fled in an apparent “hit-and-run” in Murcia.
Police identified the fatalities Junnil and Maria Lucil Nabua, both residents of Cebu City.
Murcia Municipal Police Station traffic investigator, Police Staff Sgt. Ryan Bandiola, said, based on his probe of the incident, the victims were traveling in the town’s Barangay Lopez Jaena when their vehicle was struck by the pickup truck.
The force of the impact mangled the motorcycle, with one of the victims being dragged for 60 meters by the truck.
Both victims, who were in the province for the MassKara Festival, were killed instantly, while the pickup truck fled the scene.
The vehicle, which turned out to be a rental, was later found abandoned a few kilometers away.
Bandiola said it is possible the unidentified driver abandoned the pickup truck as the tires were already flat.
Police have now coordinating with the owner of the vehicle and in the process of trying to identify the driver./DGB, WDJ
