The Bacolod City government plans to purchase various equipment for the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) flood control program. Executive Assistant Jomarie Vargas, who serves as CDRRMO cluster head, said bidding will be conducted by the first quarter of next year after the Sangguniang Panlungsod passes an appropriation ordinance for the purchase.
The projected purchases include five six-wheeler dump trucks worth P27.5 million, 73 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras for P25.9 million, an amphibious excavator worth P28.5 million; a self loader cargo truck at a cost of P21.8 million, a mini backhoe loader for P5.8 million, and two emergency response vehicles worth P3.011 million.
Vargas said the additional 73 cameras will augment to the existing 39 cameras already installed.
He added, the facilities will not be only for disaster purposes but, particularly the CCTV cameras, help monitor traffic, flooding during the rainy season, and solving crime./DGB, WDJ
