Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) director, Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, recently presented his accomplishments since taking the post last June.
In a press conference yesterday at Camp Martin Delgado in Iloilo City, Pamuspusan said from June 27 to October 21, PRO-6 initiated 639 anti-drug operations across the Western Visayas, resulting in 965 arrests.
He noted, four drug suspects were killed during police operations.
Additionally, Pamuspusan said they have seized 3,889 grams of shabu and 8,568 grams of marijuana, with a combined value of P37.7 million.
With regard to anti-gambling operations, the PRO-6 director said 339 operations were initiated with 952 arrests and P160,000 in gambling money confiscated.
Meanwhile, as part of a regional campaign against loose firearms, Pamuspusan said they have conducted 166 operations with 211 arrests made and 320 confiscated firearms.
PRO-6 added, 10,043 firearms were either surrendered and deposited.
The regional police also made progress with anti-insurgency operations with five New People’s Army (NPA) rebels arrests, along with one insurgent killed and five others surrendered to PRO-6 personnel.
In addition, Pamuspusan revealed he signed dismissal papers for one PRO-6 officer for their involvement with illegal drugs.
The law enforcement official added, he will not hesitate to dismiss more if they are discovered engaging in illegal activity./DGB, WDJ
