The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters ended their losing streak in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup after their 99-82 win over the Blackwater Elite last night at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
Rey Nambatac finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists for Rain or Shine; while Beau Belga and Kwame Alexander each added 17 markers.
Trailing by eight points early on, the Painters started its run in the second period behind Eduardo Daquioag to tie the score at 34-all before seizing a 49-40 halftime score off back-to-back triples by Nambatac.
The Elite started the third period strong and took a 56-52 edge but the Painters answered with three-point baskets from Chris Exciminiano and Sidney Onwubere for a 69-67 lead.
Rain or Shine continued its run in the fourth with triples from Belga for a 75-67 advantage. While Blackwater answered with a rally to get to within 84-80, the Painters went for a finishing run behind Nambatac and Alexander./ASC, WDJ
