Ilonggo athletes win gold

Two Ilonggo athletes captured gold yesterday in track and field during the ongoing University Games at the Iloilo Sports Complex in Iloilo City. Elvy Villagoniza of the University of Santo Tomas won in women’s long jump, while Rogil Pablo of the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde triumphed in men’s long jump.
“I am delighted to finally win a gold medal as a UST athlete but it was not my best leap,” Villagoniza said. “It was still too low.”
“I will try to improve further in the [event] for the UAAP competition,” she added.
The Iloilo City native registered a 5.65-meter jump to win gold.
Meanwhile, Pablo finished with a 6. 96-meter jump./ASC, WDJ
