An inmate of the Escalante City Jail reportedly escaped last Thursday. Negros Occidental Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) provincial administrator, Jail Superintendent Larry Fuentes, identified the inmate as Perlito Sico, who is serving time on three illegal drugs cases, along with illegal possession of firearms charges.
In addition, he also has pending charges in violation of the Commission on Elections gun ban.
Fuentes said, based on investigations carried out by BJMP-Escalante, Sico managed to escape by climbing two perimeter fences and making a dash for a nearby sugarcane field.
One of the jail guards, Jail Officer 1 Rodney Cobrado, spotted the escapee and fired several warning shots; however, the inmate refused to stop and eventually escaped.
Fuentes added, the incident took place around 7:29 p.m.
The BJMP, in coordination with local police, have since deployed tracker teams in order to recapture Sico.
A reward of P25,000 was also offered to whomever can point to the escaped inmate’s whereabouts./DGB, WDJ
