The Creamline Cool Smashers scored a 25-22, 27-25, 25-14 sweep over the BanKo Perlas Spikers in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference over the weekend at the San Juan Arena.
Jessica Galanza posted a triple-double for Creamline with 14 points, 14 excellent digs, and 16 excellent receptions; while Michelle Gumabao and Rosemarie Vargas each had 12 markers; Kyle Negrito dished out 17 excellent sets on top of six markers; and Kyla Atienza offered up 28 excellent digs.
After a close first set win, Creamline were threatened in the second as they found themselves down 16-9 before mounting a run to tie up the score, 21-21.
After playing to a 25-all tie, Gumabao scored back-to-back hits.
Creamline when on to build a sizable cushion in the decisive third frame, allowing them to shift into cruise control and secure the straight-set victory.
In the other match, the PetroGazz Angels pulled off a 25-20, 25-11, 25-16 win over the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders./ASC, WDJ
