With Ceres-Negros FC already securing their third consecutive Philippines Football League (PFL) title, they will be looking to close the 2019 season undefeated with their fourth ‘Visayas Clásico’ against regional rival Kaya FC-Iloilo this weekend, Saturday, October 19, at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa City, Batangas. The Negrense club has won all of their PFL matches this season except for two draws against Stallion Laguna FC.
Ceres coach Risto Vidaković said achieving the feat would be “historic.”
“It’s not easy to be unbeaten during the whole league,” he said. “I think it’s something historic and unusual but we have one more game still; against a big opponent.”
The coach added, “But we are not obsessed with that—if it happens, it happens.”
The Negrense club has won all three of their prior meetings with Ceres only giving up one goal in their previous matches.
Meanwhile, for Kaya, striker Jovin Bedic said they are determined to close 2019 with a win.
“We are all motivated and ready for this game,” he said. “We want to finish the tournament on a winning note.”
Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., which will be followed by Green Archers United taking on Philippine Air Force FC at 7:00 p.m./ASC, WDJ
