Senator Manny Pacquiao said he is planning to establish a “Pacman Village” in Bacolod City, which will serve as a housing project for the city’s homeless residents. In a press conference during his visit last Thursday, the champion boxer said the project is a housing program he created in order to provide homes for poor families.
The senator noted, he already asked Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia about the price of land in the city.
He said primary benefactors of the project will be the homeless.
When asked why he is pushing for the project, Pacquaio said, in the past, he has experienced the difficulty of life in poverty and wants to spread the blessings he has received.
Aside from Bacolod City, a “Pacman Village” is established in Sarangani.
Following his visit to the Bacolod City Government Center, the senator also gave out P1,000 bills to city residents.
In total, Pacquiao shelled out around P4.1 million.
Last month, when the senator was in town for an earlier Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League game at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum, he distributed over P1.5 million to local residents.
Since bagging the World Boxing Association super welterweight title following a split decision win over American fighter Keith Thurman last July, the senator has been giving out P1,000 at random to various beneficiaries./DGB, WDJ
