The Bacolod Master Sardines dropped their recent Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup home game, losing 85-80 to the Cebu Sharks at the University of St. La Salle Coliseum in Bacolod City.
Bacolod opened strong and raced to a 22-14 advantage after the first quarter but Cebu countered with a rally in the second for a 37-all halftime score.
Cebu went on to break the game wide open in the third as they outscored the Bacolodnons 32-20 for their largest lead of 16 points. Bacolod tried to rally in the fourth but only got as close as five points.
William McAloney top-scored for Cebu with 20 points, while Patrick Cabahug added 16 markers, Rhaffy Octobre – 13, and Nichole John Ubalde – 10.
Despite the loss, Mark Jayven Tallo finished with 15 points for Bacolod, while Bacolodnon guard Nico Paolo Javelona and Jess Mar Villahermosa each chipped in 11 markers./ASC, WDJ
