After earlier securing their third consecutive Philippines Football League title, Ceres-Negros FC formally closes out the season tomorrow, October 19, with a ‘Visayas Clásico’ against regional rival Kaya FC-Iloilo.
The Negrense club has won all three of their prior meetings with Ceres only giving up one goal in their previous matches.
Earlier this week, the Bacolod City-based club scored a 3-0 win over Mendiola FC at the Aboitiz Pitch in Lipa City, Batangas. The win marked a sweep for Ceres FC as they have won all four of their meetings this season with the Manila-based club.
Ceres midfielder Takashi Odawara got things going early with a header in the second minute. Fellow midfielder Bienvenido Marañon went on to double the lead in the 35th minute.
Into the second half, Marañon secured a brace in the 74th minute.
A Ceres FC win or draw in Saturday’s match will complete an undefeated season for the Bacolodnon club.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Kaya FC scored a 3-1 win over Green Archers United./ASC, WDJ
