The Department of Tourism (DOT) recently noted two more Boracay lodging establishments have been added to their list of accredited facilities, bringing the total number across the popular resort island to 380.
According to policies implemented after the island was previously shut down due to environmental reasons, businesses are required to comply by standards set by DOT, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and Department of Environment and Natural Resources or they will not be allowed to operate.
Shortly before reopening, during a meeting between DOT Undersecretary Arturo P. Boncato and the Boracay Stakeholders Core Group, the group affirmed only compliant establishments should be permitted to operate.
Following the latest accreditation, there are now 14,038 available rooms across the island./WDJ
